In 1927, Arvid Strand, the son of a Norwegian immigrant, helped found the construction firm that would later bear his family name. He created an ongoing tradition of excellence that will be proudly carried into the next century. The first Strand landmark project was the seventeen story Textile Towers in downtown Seattle which was completed in 1930. To old time Seattle residents, the Strand name is associated with the construction of the classic old, cut stone buildings on the University of Washington campus which were constructed in the 1940s. It is also associated with the expansion of Husky Stadium into a 70,000 seat facility.
