The 298,000 SF historic Federal Office Building Renovation project was
split up into three separate contracts by the GSA. The first phase
was the removal of the asbestos from all 12 floors. The second phase
was the building renovation and seismic upgrades. The third phase
was the tenant improvement. Our contract originally included the
second phase only. The third phase was later added by change order.
The project was designed by SERA Architects, with structural engineering
by KPFF Consulting Engineers.
It involved complete interior demolition, extensive seismic upgrades,
replacement of all building utilities and the installation of all new
interior finishes. The Government's goal of incorporating
"state-of-the-art" seismic, environmental, electrical,
communications, and fire protection systems into a 65 year old historic
structure while preserving the character and craftsmanship found in this
landmark building was carried out with extraordinary skill and the
dedication of all members of the construction team.
