This project entailed a complete renovation of, and addition to the existing 1948 courthouse in Bellingham. The completed 160,000 square foot facility is one of the finest examples of blending 1940’s and post-modern architecture in Washington. The exterior of the building is an intricate façade of pre-cast concrete, a three-story rotunda enclosed by a glass wall colonnade, panelized brick arches, curtain walls, and patterned dryvit.
During the construction of the new addition, service systems were tied into the existing building to create one homogenous facility. Plumbing, electrical, HVAC, sprinkler and alarm systems were tied into the old courthouse while the existing building was fully occupied and in operation.
