Woodland Park Zoo
Using innovative construction techniques, unique materials, and custom designed solutions, this AGC Grand Award Winner for Excellence in Construction exceeded our client's environmentally sensitive and exacting specifications. Diligent value engineering efforts by Strand Hunt Construction reduced costs by $1,000,000, while adding two exhibits and sophisticated animal and flora life support systems.
Design/build solutions answered special needs: for fire treatment of reed ceiling, glazing to withstand gorilla impact, transparent stainless steel netting, and formwork for hundreds of unique foundations and spaces. Challenged by intense competition from the nation's top zoos, this project won the American Association of Zoological Parks and Aquariums' prestigious Exhibit Achievement Award.
